Penicillins

Penicillins are a class of beta-lactam antibiotics used to treat infections caused by certain kinds of bacteria. Penicillin was the first antibiotic discovered from the yeast Penicillium notatum in 1928. Penicillins are bactericidal. They hinder bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial cell death.
